IBR eliminate custom model errors with DriveWorks

IBR Redutores, based in Brazil, design and manufacture custom gearboxes and motors for machinery and equipment. IBR manufacture a range of product lines with multiple configurations.

Before using DriveWorks, their engineering team was overloaded by a high volume of requests from the sales team and needed a solution to generate accurate customer quotes quickly.

Generating custom models and drawings with 100% accuracy

IBR originally created a drawing library to help speed up the design process. This required a large amount of storage space and left many gaps. The team had to send a previous model that was most similar to customer requirements.

Using their product knowledge and expertise, the engineering team have built a DriveWorks configurator that generates models specific to customer requirements, including SOLIDWORKS® parts and PDFs.

Order information is submitted in IBR’s ERP system and sent to a queue to be automatically processed by DriveWorks. DriveWorks opens SOLIDWORKS, drives each part, and generates a 2D drawing. IBR have confidence in the accuracy of the generated files, without the need for review, so they are sent straight to the customer.

Custom drawing and model creation time reduced from 2 days to 10 minutes

The manual tasks previously performed by IBR engineers were repetitive and prone to errors. However, the process of creating custom CAD files took on average 8 hours, with highly complex parts taking up to 2 days.

Using DriveWorks, this has now been reduced to approximately 10 minutes. Overall, IBR have seen time savings of 83%. They now handle up to 300 customer requests a day with a fast response time. Using DriveWorks to streamline their design process has also enabled teams across the business to access models. Leadership, sales, and production teams all have access to customer models, improving visibility and communication.

“We were able to empower people who were doing repetitive, manual work to work in more strategic roles – ones which bring value to the business.”

Braian Peruzzo, Tech & Efficiency Analyst at IBR
