How DriveWorks makes a difference for valve, pump, and cylinder manufacturers

Overcoming challenges in valve, pump, and cylinder manufacturing

Valve, pump, and cylinder manufacturers are competing on more than just product quality. They need to make configuration easy, provide accurate quotes quickly, and deliver complex custom products.

With DriveWorks design automation, 3D product configurator, and CPQ solutions, valve, pump, and cylinder manufacturers turn complexity into a selling point. Using DriveWorks, they deliver custom products faster, with greater accuracy, and improved profit margins.

Shorter sales cycles

Sales cycles can be lengthy and complex, often involving multiple stakeholders and detailed customization and pricing structures. Workflows can be complicated, with lots of back-and-forth dialogue.

DriveWorks guides sales representatives through product configuration, applies pricing rules, and automatically generates accurate quotes.

Improved accuracy

Manual design processes struggle with the complexity of custom products. Mistakes in configuration and design increase as product specification becomes more detailed.

DriveWorks rules-based configuration and design validation minimizes manual mistakes that can lead to costly rework or delays in production.

Reduced design engineering workload

Designing each new custom valve, pump, or cylinder order often involves reworking the same designs to match exact customer specifications. This manual process can be slow and error-prone.

DriveWorks design automation enables engineers to automatically generate accurate custom designs based on specific inputs, freeing up design time for added value work.

Optimized pricing

Accurate pricing can be a big challenge. Every design variation or material change can impact cost, making quoting slow and error-prone.

DriveWorks automates pricing logic and applies pre-defined pricing rules to every quote. This ensures optimized and accurate pricing, regardless of how complex the configuration is.

Design consistency

Maintaining design consistency across different product lines is critical. Consistency promotes customer trust, reduces errors and rework, and lowers production costs.

DriveWorks embeds engineering rules and standards directly into the configuration process. Every design is automatically validated to ensure production viability.

Scalability

As businesses grow, the level of complexity associated with custom manufacturing also increases.

DriveWorks is scalable and can grow with your business. DriveWorks easily accommodates the addition of new custom product configurations as your business expands, regardless of the complexity.

Speeding up sales & manufacturing processes with DriveWorks

VanAire automate processes company-wide, reducing errors and improving customer experience

VanAire Inc, headquartered in Michigan, develop engineered valve automation hardware, predominantly working with metal parts that connect valves and actuators on pipelines. VanAire started using DriveWorks to automate their design process. DriveWorks is now implemented in many of their systems, speeding up processes and order cycles.

Initially, VanAire’s Engineering team used DriveWorks solely as a design automation tool. After seeing the initial benefits to their order process, VanAire have now implemented DriveWorks across the whole business.

The Shipping team were one of the first non-technical teams to be introduced to DriveWorks, with the target of automating the creation of shipping labels. VanAire use DriveWorks to replace the manual process of creating shipping labels and attaching them to purchase orders.

VanAire have created a feature-driven costing system along with an online sales configurator. These tools mean members of the Sales team can now run specifications themselves, so the design team has more time to focus on innovative R&D projects.

Before implementing DriveWorks, the manual process of creating a specification and inputting it into the ERP system could take up to two hours. Now, using DriveWorks, this process takes less than 10 minutes.

Manufacturing data and drawings are now created automatically. This process used to take 15-20 minutes and has now been cut down to 3-4 minutes.

DriveWorks has made the whole process from the customer’s initial inquiry, to getting a quote and receiving their order much easier and quicker.
