Efficient design and accelerated quotation process with DriveWorks
The challenge
Schrage Rohrkettensystem GmbH, based in Germany, manufactures tube chain conveyors. Their products are used worldwide in heavy industry, plastics processing, food and feed production, and increasingly within the recycling sector. Schrage mobile tube chain conveyors are employed wherever bulk materials must be transferred flexibly, enabling faster, cleaner, and safer loading of products, for example, transferring materials from large bags into lorries.
Schrage wanted to expedite the creation of drawings during the quotation phase and alleviate the workload of their design department.
The solution
Schrage generates approximately 1,000 quotation drawings annually, many of which are simple line guides, either horizontal or vertical conveyors with varying dimensions. Repeatedly drafting these is not particularly challenging and is ideally suited to automation.
Schrage adopted DriveWorks for these tasks. By entering a few variables into an input form, a drawing is now generated for use in quotations and subsequent costing. DriveWorks interfaces directly with SOLIDWORKS® data, automatically generating 3D models, drawings, and calculations based on master models and predefined design rules.
Initial developments with DriveWorks have already been realised, and Schrage has created numerous templates and models for DriveWorks. Two lines for one system type are already complete, and using DriveWorks, they aim to empower their sales department to independently generate quotation drawings, removing the need for design department involvement.
