Round Up of 3DEXPERIENCE WORLD 2022

Our Time at Virtual 3DEXPERIENCE World 2022

This year, 3DEXPERIENCE World 2022 was reimagined to be an all-virtual event due to the global pandemic. As a virtual event, it meant it was open to anyone around the world to attend, for free!

The three-day event was filled with inspiring keynote presentations, educational breakout sessions and lots of virtual networking!

Here’s what we got up to during this year’s event.

The Partner Zone & DriveWorks Booth

The Solution Partner Zone created an area where attendees could learn more about SOLIDWORKS innovative partner products and services.

The DriveWorks booth was located in the Sponsor Zone, where our team of DriveWorks Experts and CSWP’s were ready on our ‘live’ booth to chat, answer questions and giving on-demand demos of our award-winning software live in action!

Thank you to everyone who virtually visited us at the booth.

If you missed it, there’s still time to register and access all the great DriveWorks resources that are available there.

General Sessions

General sessions are where we hear from the people and businesses who are part of the 3DEXPERIENCE community.

Day One

The theme of day one’s general session was “From Things to Sustainable Life – Strategy & Direction”.

Gian Paolo Bassi kicked things off by sharing the collective objective for this event: to share the technologies and trends that will shape the future of engineering. During the session, Gian Paolo announced Manish Kumar as the new CEO of SOLIDWORKS CEO, with a focus on R&D.

Next up, Bernard Charles, Dassault Systèmes CEO and Vice Chairman talked about experience factories and virtual twin technologies.

We heard from inspiring Keynote Speaker, Hakeem Oluseyi, an astrophysicist and former Space Science Education Lead for NASA. He gave a great perspective on how he got his start, despite many hurdles, and the vital role of mentorship, especially for disadvantaged youth.

Following the general session, attendees could attend a variety of technical sessions and also join SOLIDWORKS Live, a dedicated feed running across the event.

Day Two

Day two’s general session had a huge focus on technology.

The Dassault Systèmes R&D team took part in a roundtable featuring experts in design, simulation, and collaboration.

They were joined by 3DEXPERIENCE Works users NASKA robotics, Exovolar, and Smartflyer to discuss their experiences with connected SOLIDWORKS tools.

Next up, industrial design took centre stage as we heard from the keynote panel, featuring users and experts including Jesse Hahne & Marc McCauley from the Center for Advanced Design, Leigh Chrisie from Mistywest, and Jason Pohl.

These amazing designers talked about their large variety of unique projects ranging from custom motorcycles and jet boards to polar bear trackers and universal translators. The panel shared their collective experiences and lessons learned over the years.

Following the session, there were even more technical break out sessions to join with tons more content on SOLIDWORKS Live.

Day Three

General session day three saw a spotlight on connections, relationships and community.

Suchit Jain, vice president of Strategy and Business Development at DS SOLIDWORKS, spoke of the rapidly growing SOLIDWORKS user ecosystem, 6 million+ designers, engineers, students, entrepreneurs, makers – all designing and making many of the things we see around us. SOLIDWORKS truly is everywhere.

During this session, we saw some amazing futuristic technologies being developed by SOLIDWORKS users across the globe, including autonomous trucks, kitchen robots of the future, gene therapy manufacturing and the possibility of human flight at jet packs.

The next topic, the Workforce of the Future, was debated by Michael Buchli, 3DEXPERIENCE World Sales Partner Manager, and a panel of experts that discussed the pressing issues around the growing skills gap in manufacturing today. It was great to hear the experts recognising the importance of industry engaging with schools to nurture the future of STEM.

SOLIDWORKS Community

Every year, we celebrate a SOLIDWORKS User Group leader who stands out from the crowd for going above and beyond with their support for the SWUGN community.

At 3DEXPERIENCE World 2022, we announced that the winner of the 2021 DriveWorks Award for SWUG Leader of the Year is Kirby Downey.

Kirby is the leader of the London SOLIDWORKS User Group, which he started in May of 2017. He is also the SWUG Committee Representative for the UK. In his spare time, you can find Kirby and co-host Jonny Harrison on The CORE Podcast where they talk all things design, LEGO, and honestly anything else that comes to mind and helps keep people connected. Most recently, they hosted Hallway Hangouts as a way for people to come together to talk, share and network during 3DEXPERIENCE World 2022.

We were also extremely proud to be awarded the SWUGN Partner of the Year Award.

We are so honoured and proud to receive this award again, thank you SWUGN!

With the support of our resellers, customers and partners, we have attended SWUG meetings, sponsored meetings and helped group leaders to find presenters with interesting presentations since 2015.

We love being a part of the SOLIDWORKS Community.

We can’t wait to be a part of lots of great SWUG meetings again this year whether they be virtual or in person!

Check Out Our SWUGN T-Shirts

Every year we design a new t-shirt for SOLIDWORKS User Group leaders.

In previous years at World, leaders have visited the DriveWorks booth to collect their t-shirts and get a photo with our team.

Despite last year being a virtual event, we still wanted to give group leaders the chance to get their hands on a DriveWorks SWUGN sponsor t-shirt so before and during 3DEXPERIENCE World, Heather sent out our t-shirts.

This year we decided to do the same and it was great to see members of the community proudly showing them off during the event once again!

If you are a SWUGN leader and missed the chance to get hold of one at 3DEXPERIENCE World  – we are still sending them out!

See You Next Year!

The last general session of 3DEXPERIENCE World 2022 closed with a final address from Gian Paolo Bassi.

The session finished with the announcement that next year, 3DEXPERIENCE World will be held in Nashville, Tennessee.

Of course, we will be back for 3DEXPERIENCE World 2023 and we hope to see you there!
