The challenge
Frangus Ltd is a design consultancy specializing in the design of materials handling equipment for the rail and construction industry. Before implementing DriveWorks Solo, Frangus designed orders manually. To create new product variants or configurations, they had to take a pack and go of a similar product, then re-work every part, sub-assembly, weldment and the drawing. This was a manual and time-consuming process.
The solution
In the first four months of using DriveWorks Solo, Frangus had already developed a number of configurators for standard parts, such as pin and hydraulic cylinder assemblies. They also developed configurators for whole products, including excavator adapter heads and rail tracking devices.
The implementation of DriveWorks Solo has enabled them to use tabular data to drive designs. This functionality enables them to create SOLIDWORKS models, complete with all the drawings and data required for procurement with part numbers tailored to the client’s systems, in under 3 minutes. This process previously took over 3 hours.
