DriveWorks World 2025 Day One Highlights

Today was the first day of DriveWorks World 2025 with hundreds of DriveWorks users and resellers joining us virtually from locations all over the world. Live stream sessions were hosted by our team of DriveWorks experts from our offices at DriveWorks HQ in Thelwall, near Warrington, UK.

The live stream sessions ran from 1pm to 9pm BST, with an agenda packed with technical updates, expert insights and customer stories. Attendees joined the live stream via the DriveWorks World 2025 event app, where you can also watch back live stream sessions if you missed any of them.

DriveWorks World is very much a whole team event, with everyone getting involved. Team members not involved in session hosting have been watching the live stream together, answering questions in the live chat, and making sure we all have enough refreshments!

DriveWorks World 2025 day one key takeaways

DriveWorks World 2025 live implementation

New for this year’s event is a live implementation that members of the DriveWorks team are working on throughout DriveWorks World. Their brief is to build an online configurator for a custom gate company. The live implementation team is working collaboratively across two locations, with Dorian Koch, DriveWorks Senior Technical Specialist, working from his base in France, and the rest of the team working from DriveWorks HQ.

The team joined us live in the studio to share their progress and discuss how and why they have implemented specific features and functionality. This is an interactive feature, with attendees shaping the focus of the implementation via polls in the event app.

The live implementation will continue tomorrow.

How manufacturers use DriveWorks

Three manufacturers shared how they use DriveWorks technology and the benefits they’ve achieved through design automation and CPQ technology. We heard from:

Monmouth Scientific, a UK market leader in clean air solutions.

Twin City Fan & Blower (TCF), based in the US, is an industry-leading designer and manufacturer of high-quality custom, semi-custom, and standard fans, ranging from heavy-duty industrial process fans to OEM fans, as well as a comprehensive line of commercial supply and exhaust fans for the HVAC plan and spec market.

LBH International A/S, based in Denmark, provide custom fabric, elastomere, and metal expansion joints in all sizes and shapes.

What’s new in DriveWorks 23 – Part 1 & 2

DriveWorks Co-Founder, Glen Smith, shared some of the new functionality that will be delivered with DriveWorks 23.

Responses in the live chat were resoundingly positive, and for the DriveWorks team members who have been working on the new functionality, it was great to see such good feedback.

The What’s New sessions were followed by New Feature Deep Dive sessions, where DriveWorks technical experts joined us in the studio to take us on a live tour of some of the features announced in the What’s New sessions.

Glen will cover more new functionality in two further What’s New in DriveWorks 23 sessions tomorrow.

DriveWorks – Your CPQ solution

DriveWorks Product Manager – CPQ, Tom Wormald, shared how you can use the technology you already have inside DriveWorks for CPQ.

He covered pricing rules, product and business logic, guided selling functionality in the form designer to help customers with complex configurations, and how to use interactive 3D to improve user experience.

He also shared his insight on how the reporting functionality in DriveWorks can be used to inform business strategy.

Successful implementations

DriveWorks Sherpa, Paul Gimbel, shared the five habits of successful DriveWorks implementations. We’ve seen many different customer implementations and understand the best approach to building a configurator to get the most out of DriveWorks technology.

Those five habits are: having a continuous improvement mindset, making use of test cases, rolling out regular updates, maintaining a consistent flexible vision, and making decisions based on business value.

Design automation

DriveWorks Technical Manager, Dave Meecham, shared the history of DriveWorks design automation capabilities, encompassing 24 years of SOLIDWORKS design automation.

He covered the adaptability of our design automation technology, with tools and functionality that enable you to create automation processes that work for you, including advanced feature parameters, generation tasks, model insight, and integration with SOLIDWORKS PDM and other business systems.
