Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2025

Today is the start of National Apprenticeship Week 2025 – a week-long celebration that brings together businesses and apprentices across the country to highlight the positive impact that apprenticeships make on individuals, businesses, and the wider economy.

Apprenticeships bridge the gap between education and the workplace, offering hands-on experience while developing valuable skills. At DriveWorks, we believe apprenticeships provide a fantastic opportunity for young talent to gain real-world knowledge and qualifications while contributing to the success of our business.

The benefits of recruiting apprentices

DriveWorks has a long history of supporting young people, and apprenticeship recruitment forms a key part of our strategy. We’re actively creating a pipeline for talent by recruiting team members who are hopefully more likely to want to stay with DriveWorks after they’ve completed their apprenticeship.

We’re a forward-thinking company with a culture of learning and innovation, and having apprentices as part of our team brings fresh ideas and new ways of thinking. It also has a positive halo impact on wider team members in terms of mentoring and upskilling.

A report by the National Apprenticeship Service highlighted additional benefits that apprentices can bring to your business including:

  • Staff morale – 73% of employers said that staff morale is improved by having apprentices
  • Staff retention – 69% of employers saw that employing apprentices improved staff retention
  • Productivity – 78% of employers benefitted from improved productivity

DriveWorks commitment to developing talent

In addition to our apprenticeship recruitment, DriveWorks supports young people in several other ways. Our support for young people includes:

  • Introducing careers into STEM subjects at school
  • Work experience placements for Year 10 & 11 students
  • Successful university placement programme for students in their 3rd year at university
  • Guest university lectures on careers in engineering and computing
  • Certification programme for students to learn about automation
  • Members of the Cheshire & Warrington Cornerstone Employers Group – working together to ensure all young people in our area have the opportunity to be prepared and inspired for the world of work

Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week at DriveWorks

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we asked our current apprentices for their insights on apprenticeships. We’ll have another DriveWorks apprentice joining our team in September, so keep an eye on our LinkedIn page for more news about them soon.
