Pretty Muddy is a 5k muddy obstacle course that women of any ability can climb over, crawl under and charge through to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

On Sunday 6th May 2018, 4 members of the DriveWorks team are taking on the Warrington Pretty Muddy 5k in Victoria Park.

Laura, Danielle, Millie and Rosie, otherwise known as the DriveWorks Divas, signed up for the event in January and since then they’ve been training regularly to help them prepare.

Running is a passion that’s shared by many members of the DriveWorks team. We often hear about people taking part in Park Runs, completing marathons or discussing their personal best times.

Once they’d registered for the race, the DriveWorks Divas started an after work running club and it was nice to see our regular runners join them to offer support and advice.

After 4 months of training they’re ready to take on the obstacle course this weekend – good luck girls!

So far the team have raised £253 for Cancer Research UK!

SOLIDWORKS User Group meetings are a great way to connect with other engineers, product designers and industry enthusiasts. As a SOLIDWORKS Gold Partner Product, we’re really keen to get involved with the SOLIDWORKS community.

With the support of our resellers, customers and partners, we’ve attended and sponsored SWUG meetings across the globe. We’ve also worked closely with SOLIDWORKS User Group leaders to provide technical and educational presentation resources since 2015.

At SOLIDWORKS World 2018, we were honoured to receive the ‘SWUGN Co-Participating Partner of the Year’ award.

This year, we’re continuing to promote education and knowledge sharing and we’re excited to share the details of Heather’s upcoming SWUGN tour of Canada!

In May, Heather Hasz, who is involved in running the SWUGN sponsorship program here at DriveWorks, will travel from Toronto to Ottawa to visit 4 user groups.

She will present to the groups about DriveWorksXpress – the free design automation tool that is included in every educational and commercial licence of SOLIDWORKS. Heather will show users how they can enhance their CAD skills and add to their certifications by becoming a Certified DriveWorksXpress Associate.

Day Three Round Up – Wednesday, 18th April

DriveWorks World is our annual value-added technical event for DriveWorks users.
This year it took place in Cheshire, UK from 16th-18th April. DriveWorks World is the perfect opportunity for our community to come together to learn, network & share ideas.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us this year. If you missed it, here’s what happened on day three…

Arrival

Lots of delegates arrived in their DriveWorks World 2018 t-shirts and CDWP fleeces!
We started the day with a quick coffee and then got straight back in to the training.

DriveWorks 16 Training

The DriveWorks 16 training continued, with some delegates attending more of the advanced topic sessions as others were coming to the end of their DriveWorks Pro Administrator training.

21 New Certified DriveWorks Professionals

All of the people completing the DriveWorks Pro Administrator Training passed their certification and are now CDWPs.
Some attendees from the advanced training track also got certified at DriveWorks World!
Well done to all of you!

Wrap Up

Towards the end of the day the sun had come out so we ended the event with a quick de-brief outside.

Some delegates then stuck around and chatted with the friends they had made over the last few days, comparing projects and sharing ideas.
They didn’t want to leave but eventually we persuaded them with one simple word… pub!

Farewell Drinks

We all headed down the lane to the local pub’s beer garden to make the most of the sunshine.

As the sun started to set we walked back down the lane to the hotel bar where we said our final goodbyes after a brilliant few days.

Day Two Round Up – Tuesday, 17th April

DriveWorks World is our annual value-added technical event for DriveWorks users. This year it took place in Cheshire, UK from 16th-18th April. DriveWorks World is the perfect opportunity for our community to come together to learn, network & share ideas.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us this year. If you missed it, here’s what happened on day two…

Welcome Presentations

We kicked off the first day of training by handing out DriveWorks World 2018 t-shirts. Delegates then attended welcome presentations by Glen Smith and Maria Sarkar.

DriveWorks 16 Training

DriveWorks World attendees are among the first to see and use the latest release of DriveWorks.
This year delegates were able to choose from two training options. The first option was to complete the DriveWorks Pro Training & Certification to become a CDWP. The second option was to choose from a selection of advanced topic sessions.
Both options were focused on learning about DriveWorks 16 and the latest features and functionality.

Tom Wormald and Ian Prossor from the DriveWorks team taught Option 1: DriveWorks Pro Administrator Training & Certification to anyone new to DriveWorks.

Glen Smith, CEO and Phil Gilbanks, Technical Team Manager delivered the advanced topic sessions, alongside members of the DriveWorks technical and development teams.

In between sessions, delegates had the opportunity to get to know each other and try out the EvenKeel custom insole configurator.

DriveWorks World Social

To wrap up the first day of training, we invited delegates to DriveWorks HQ for a social event.
The DriveWorks team worked through the rain to set up the marquee, fill the fridges with beer and set up games.

DriveWorks World delegates then hopped aboard the double-decker bus and made their way to DriveWorks HQ where they were met with a warm welcome from the DriveWorks team!

Lee Herron from DriveWorks reseller, Javelin decided not to join us on the double-decker bus. Instead, he made his way to DriveWorks HQ on his electric skateboard! Of course, everyone was keen to have a go too…

Automation IPA

The main attraction at the DriveWorks World social was Automation IPA. a homebrew by one of our software developers, Ben. See the brewing process on our blog. Automation IPA was really popular with queues going out of the door! We also gave all of our delegates their own Automation IPA pint glasses.

Delicious Food

We couldn’t serve all of that beer without also providing some food to soak it up! We opted for some really cool VW campers, serving burgers and curry.

Fun & Games

Here at DriveWorks, we work hard but we play hard too.
We’ve got a pool table and games consoles at DriveWorks HQ and delegates could also play the Battleships game that Matt and Phil played live on stage during the Monday What’s New in DriveWorks 16 presentations.

That’s a Wrap!

Of course it wouldn’t be DriveWorks World without a big group photo!

Here are some more photos from DriveWorks World 2018, day two…

Day One Round Up – Monday, 16th April

DriveWorks World is our annual value-added technical event for DriveWorks users. This year it took place in Cheshire, UK from 16th-18th April. DriveWorks World is the perfect opportunity for our community to come together to learn, network & share ideas.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us this year. If you missed it, here’s what happened on day one…

Welcome & Industry Presentations

The day began with a welcome presentation from Maria Sarkar, VP of DriveWorks, followed by two industry speakers who both focused on the importance of innovation and driving forward.

First to present was Philippa Glover, of Innovate UK, talking about the new digital industrial revolution, Industry 4.0.

Simon Booker then took to the stage to give an update on SOLIDWORKS and to inspire manufacturers to find their ikigai (a reason for being) by combining what we’re good at, what we love and what the world needs.

What’s New: Part One

DriveWorks World attendees are always the first to see and use the latest release of our software. Glen, CEO of DriveWorks, kicked off the first part of the What’s New reveal focusing on the improvements we’ve made to stability, scalability, usability and performance.

User Presentations

A variety of DriveWorks users from companies across the world, in a wide range of industries, then took to the stage to tell us about the many different ways they all use DriveWorks.
From shoe insoles, outdoor furniture and balconies, to concrete pits, cranes and bridges, it was fascinating to see so many different uses for DriveWorks software.
One company had taken DriveWorks even further in their organisation and were using it to automate business processes too.

What’s New: Part Two

For the second part of the What’s New reveal, Glen shared one of the ways we tested some of the new features in DriveWorks 16. Dave, our Senior Applications Engineer, had built his own game of Battleships, using DriveWorks. Phil, Technical Team Manager and Matt, Product Manager, played the game live on stage!

How DriveWorks Use DriveWorks

Towards the end of day one, after we had seen how so many of our customers use DriveWorks in a variety of ways, we shared one of the ways we use DriveWorks, at DriveWorks!
Jake, our Systems Analyst has built a digital signage system using DriveWorks. We use it throughout our offices to display key information to our team. We also used the system at DriveWorks World, to display messages to our delegates and to show which sessions were happening where.

What’s New: Part Three

For the final What’s New in DriveWorks 16 reveal, Glen finished the day by showing everyone the impressive updates we’ve made to the 3D technology in DriveWorks 16.

Monday Evening Dinner

We finished off a brilliant first day with the annual DriveWorks World dinner. This year there was only one lucky winner of the coveted salt and pepper awards, Daniel Prusac who took a 20-hour flight from Australia and got straight on stage to present about how they use DriveWorks at AusPits.

Learn, Network & Be Inspired

Here are some more photos from DriveWorks World 2018 day one.

Our annual technical training event is just around the corner! We’re so excited to welcome all of our delegates and reveal What’s New in DriveWorks 16!
