How to Show 3D Models If No 3D Capability Exists

Every Thursday the DriveWorks Tech Team share their knowledge and expertise in these 30 minute value added webinars exclusively for DriveWorks Reseller AEs and DriveWorks Pro customers on subscription support.

On Thursday, January 5th, DriveWorks Technical Applications Specialist, Matt will be exploring new functionality that was introduced in DriveWorks 14 called Image Mode/Image Fall Back.

Image Mode is a new seamless fall back method for 3D when WebGL doesn’t work on a particular device.

WebGL is becoming more common and is now supported on almost all new devices. However, there are some older devices that don’t support WebGL. Image Fall Back caters for these devices and shows an image instead of the 3D model.

To show how Image Mode/Image Fall Back can be used, Matt will cover:

  • The DriveWorks 3D file format
  • Exporting DriveWorks 3D files from SOLIDWORKS
  • Methods of creating DriveWorks 3D files
  • WebGL
  • Image Fall Back when WebGL is not supported
  • Image Fall Back capabilities
  • Using the new 3D Preview Control property to force Image Mode
  • Using Rules to control your 3D model
  • 3D Document changes

No matter which stage you’re at with your DriveWorks projects, this webinar is a must watch!

The knowledge Matt will share during this webinar is important for setting up a seamless DriveWorks implementation that will work across multiple devices.

He will show you how Image Mode can improve an implementation containing 3D and also save it on devices that don’t support WebGL.

Not only will you learn more about how Image Mode works, you’ll also pick up some tips on how to speed up your DriveWorks projects on lower bandwidth connections when using 3D.

We welcome questions throughout and after the webinar.

The webinar will take place at 4pm GMT on Thursday, January 5th.
