DriveWorks World 2020 Goes Digital

Last week we were joined by over 200 DriveWorks customers, resellers and partners for a week of learning, networking and sharing ideas – all online.

Whilst the current global situation stopped us from hosting a face to face event, we still wanted to provide an opportunity for DriveWorks users to learn and connect. So this year we made DriveWorks World a digital event.

The technical sessions we run at DriveWorks World are extremely valuable and are part of our commitment to Helping You to Help Yourself. We wanted to make sure we could still deliver the training content that our technical team had worked hard to create.

During the event, we revealed Whats New in DriveWorks 18 and presented digital training, hands-on learning and advanced sessions all through live webinars and downloadable content.

Using technology, we created an event that was completely online.

DriveWorks World Learning Portal

For Digital DriveWorks World, we created a Learning Portal set up inside the DriveWorks Community to use as a central hub for our digital event.

Created by the DriveWorks team using DriveWorks Pro, the learning portal was a space for attendees to register for upcoming live sessions, join live sessions as they happened, download the technical training sessions and chat with the DriveWorks team and other DriveWorks users.

Each day, attendees headed to the learning portal to access the agenda for the day before joining the live sessions delivered by our CEO, Glen Smith. Once Glen had welcomed attendees and introduced the agenda for that day, the online sessions and downloadable content became available inside the learning portal.

Live Sessions

On Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, at 10am and 4pm Glen introduced the day’s schedule with a live webinar session.

Following these daily live sessions, the content was then made available to download.

Online Training and Technical Sessions

DriveWorks Pro Essentials and Sales Configurator Training

On Monday and Tuesday, we hosted the DriveWorks Pro Essentials Training.

Following Glen’s introduction, the DriveWorks Pro Design Automation Essentials Training and Sales Configurator Training were made available for attendees to download and work through at their own pace.

In total, over 200 people downloaded the DriveWorks Pro Design Automation Essentials Training and over 150 people downloaded the Sales Configurator Training.

DriveWorks Pro Advanced Technical Sessions

On Wednesday and Thursday, we hosted the DriveWorks Pro Advanced Sessions.

Following Glens introduction, a selection of 32 Advanced Technical Presentations and Hands-On Sessions, presented by subject experts, were made available on the DriveWorks Learning Portal.

Over 200 people took part in the DriveWorks Pro Advanced Sessions over the two days.

What’s New

One of our favourite parts of DriveWorks World is always the Whats New event, where our CEO, Glen Smith presents all of the new features and enhancements in our latest release.

This year we released our latest major version, DriveWorks 18, early. The DriveWorks team put a lot of hard work into this release, we were all really excited to take everyone through Whats New!

In Tuesday’s live session Glen talked us through all of the enhancements and new features.

If you have ever been to a DriveWorks World Whats New event, you will know that audience participation is a must. We encourage cheering, clapping and shouting ‘EPIC’ at your favourite features.

For our digital event, the Whats New chat was buzzing during Glen’s presentation with attendees commenting as Glen announced each feature. It was great to see so many people getting involved in the chat and sharing what features they were excited about.

With over 280 people joining the session it was our biggest Whats New event yet!

Online Chat

DriveWorks World is always a fantastic opportunity for us to get together with our customers, resellers and partners for learning, networking and sharing ideas.

The important conversations and knowledge sharing that takes place during DriveWorks World are just one of the reasons we love the event so much. We didnt want to lose the chats and discussions when taking the event online.

To make sure we could still have these conversations take place, we set up a DriveWorks World dedicated Slack channel.

Here all our attendees could join in the conversations and connect with other DriveWorks users and experts. Throughout the event, there was a real buzz and we loved seeing our attendees interacting with the DriveWorks team and each other.

With different channels set up for the DriveWorks Essentials Training, Whats New, DriveWorks Pro Advanced Sessions and also an enhancements request channel – there were lots of exciting conversations a taking place where we could all share ideas as well as tips and tricks to help each other out!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Digital DriveWorks World 2020!

Throughout the event, 227 members joined the online chat, we had 44 different channels running and over 3500 messages were shared.

Last updated: 19th March 2020

What Covid-19 Means for DriveWorks World

We have been monitoring the Covid-19 situation carefully. The health and safety of DriveWorks World attendees is our top priority and we have already had many delegates cancel their place because of company or government enforced travel bans.

This is the last thing we wanted to happen but unfortunately the situation is out of our control. We know DriveWorks World is a valuable event and we sincerely apologise that it has come to this.

We are still creating the technical sessions and we are making these available online, free of charge.

Will I Get a Refund?

Yes. All delegates have now been refunded in full.

If you have not received confirmation of your refund, please email events@driveworks.co.uk.

What Happens Now?

Online Learning Sessions

Our technical team are still preparing the presentations and technical sessions we would have hosted during DriveWorks World.

Details of how to access the sessions will be posted in the DriveWorks Community in April. Registered attendees will receive email updates too.

What’s New in DriveWorks 18

Were releasing DriveWorks 18 early so you have longer to get familiar with the new features and enhancements. Weve put a lot of work into DriveWorks 18 and we hope youre as excited about the updates as we are.

Were also creating a DriveWorks Project where youll be able to see some of the new DriveWorks 18 functionality in action. This will be available online shortly after the software is released.

A Week of Learning, Networking and Sharing Ideas

Last week our team were in Chicago, joined by over 180 customers, resellers and partners for a week of learning, networking and sharing ideas.

We revealed What’s New in DriveWorks 17 and presented training, hands-on learning and advanced sessions.

MicroTek Chicago provided the ideal base for technical training and being in the heart of downtown Chicago meant there was plenty of opportunity for networking each evening!

DriveWorks Pro Essentials and Sales Configurator Training

On Monday and Tuesday, 5 rooms full of delegates took the DriveWorks Pro Essentials Training and then went on to take the DriveWorks Pro Certification. At DriveWorks World 2019, 85 people became Certified DriveWorks Professionals (CDWPs).

We also introduced the brand new DriveWorks Pro Sales Configurator training, for those who aren’t automating any CAD. Another room of delegates sat this training to learn about building a great sales configurator.

What’s New in DriveWorks 17 Event

On Tuesday evening we took over the basement of a British themed bar where we served fish and chips, bangers and mash, curry and beer whilst Glen Smith, CEO of DriveWorks revealed What’s New in DriveWorks 17.

The room was full of excitement as the latest features, functionality and updates were shown.

DriveWorks Pro Advanced Sessions

From Wednesday to Friday, we then hosted 97 sessions, covering different topics at a variety of skill levels. The sessions were a mix of hands-on technical training, presentations and discussions.

The sessions ranged from core topics such as rules, 3D, workflow, design automation, to newer trends such as 3D printing, CPQ, the cloud, business process automation and digital transformation.

Before the event, delegates built their own agenda, choosing the sessions that suited them best.

DriveWorks User Presentations

Throughout the week, a variety of companies shared with us the many different ways they use DriveWorks.

It’s always fascinating to see how everyone uses DriveWorks differently. There were presentations on designing custom saws, configuring conveyors, roller shutter doors and van interiors and one delegate even showed us how they’ve created a game of poker in DriveWorks!

Using DriveWorks software is changing the way our customers do business.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at DriveWorks World 2019!
