DriveWorks Award for SOLIDWORKS User Group Leader of the Year

DriveWorks SWUG Leader of the Year Award

At SOLIDWORKS World 2018, we were announced as the SOLIDWORKS User Group Co-Participating Partner of the Year. Alongside receiving our award, we also announced the winner of the DriveWorks Award for SWUGN Leader of The Year.

On Wednesday, February 7th, DriveWorks sponsored and attended the SOLIDWORKS User Group Leader Event.

This year, the SWUGLe event happened at the Golden Gopher in downtown Los Angeles.

This place was awesome – with classic arcade games, a poker table, craft beer and delicious food.

Everyone had a great time and celebrated another successful SOLIDWORKS World!

A Focus on Education

During the event, Heather from the DriveWorks team announced the winner of the DriveWorks Award for SWUGN Leader of the Year. This year, the focus of the award has been on education.

In 2017, we launched the DriveWorksXpress Training and Certification Program, a free certification for all engineering and design professionals and students. Since DriveWorksXpress is included free inside every license of SOLIDWORKS, anyone who has access to SOLIDWORKS can get certified.

The certification promotes learning and knowledge sharing in the SOLIDWORKS community.

We challenged the SWUGN Community to get involved in this new education program and they did not disappoint!

This Year’s Winner

The winner of the DriveWorks Award for SWUGN Leader of the year was James Adkins. James is the group leader for the Burlington Alamance County SOLIDWORKS User Group (BACon SWUG) – what a great name!

James won the DriveWorks Award for SWUG Leader of the Year due to his commitment to education.

James is the Head of the Mechanical Drafting Program at Alamance Community College. He teaches CAD to students of all ages.

He was one of the first SWUG leaders to become a Certified DriveWorksXpress Associate.

James has also been spreading the word about this training and certification to his students to help them add to their CAD skills.

Congratulations James, we look forward to working with you in 2018!

Here is Heather with James and the two previous winners of this award, Todd Blacksher and Jeff Holliday!

A DriveWorks SWUGN Tour will soon be coming to North Carolina, and of course, the BACon SWUG will be part of our trip!
Look out for more details, and see the other SWUG meetings we’ll be attending on our events page.
