We’re Shortlisted for Two Awards at The High Sheriff’s Awards for Enterprise!

The finalists have been announced for The High Sheriff’s Awards for Enterprise 2019.

We are delighted DriveWorks has been shortlisted for awards in two categories, The Award for Innovation and The Award for Cheshire Business Exporter of The Year!

The Awards recognise outstanding achievements by enterprises in Cheshire, Halton and Warrington. Since starting in 2006, the awards have grown to become Cheshire’s prime business awards event. Entrants are judged by a panel of senior members of the Cheshire business community on a range of criteria including enterprise, responsible business practice, innovation, development and export.

Alexis Redmond is the 2018-2019 High Sheriff of Cheshire. The Office of High Sheriff, which is more than 1,000 years old, is an independent non-political Royal appointment for a single year. The ‘Shire Reeve’ used to be responsible to the king for the maintenance of law and order, but whilst the duties of the role have evolved over time, supporting the Crown and the judiciary remain central elements of the role today.

Mornflake Oats Award for Innovation

DriveWorks has been shortlisted as a finalist for The Mornflake Oats Award for Innovation for demonstrating an ability to create, nurture and develop new products.

From the outset, we’ve strived to be the best in the world at automating computer aided design (CAD), specifically SOLIDWORKS, the most widely used 3D engineering and product design tool. We were the first company, and still are the only company in the UK, to be a certified SOLIDWORKS Gold Partner in the Knowledge Based Engineering category.

Using our software, companies can embrace the digital world in several ways, along with over 1000 companies around the world who are already reaping the benefits of automation!

“Our unique environment, in former agricultural barns in Cheshire, is designed to support innovation, collaboration and knowledge sharing.”

-Glen Smith,

DriveWorks CEO

Cheshire Business Exporter of the Year

DriveWorks is also a finalist for the Cheshire Business Exporter of the Year Award for demonstrating significant growth in international business
through a clear commitment to the development of new export market opportunities.

We’re pleased to say that we’ve now got an established international network of resellers and customers. There are over 100 DriveWorks Value Added Resellers across 51 countries selling our software internationally to customers ranging from new SMEs to Fortune 500 companies. Over the last 3 years, we’ve achieved 20% growth from international sales, 13% of sales came from the UK, 41% from the US and 47% from other countries.

“Selling and supporting a technical product worldwide has its challenges!  But today, almost 80% of our revenue comes from overseas and we’ve built a highly effective channel to do this.”

-Maria Sarkar

Vice President of DriveWorks

The awards ceremony takes place on Thursday 28th March 2019 at Chester Racecourse. Our CEO Glen Smith and Vice President Maria Sarkar will be attending the event.

Using Tabulated Data in DriveWorks Solo

Using tabulated data helps to keep your projects tidy while allowing available options to change depending on previous user inputs.

Linking Form Controls to tabulated data also makes your projects more flexible as updating the table data will be mirrored by the associated controls.

For example, the table below can be used to dictate what material options are available for the selected handle type:

Here’s how the rules are set up in the background:

The Handle Type’s Items property has been defined by listing the distinct values in the first column of the table using the ListAllDistinct function.

The Handle Material’s Items property rule uses the return of the Handle Type Form Control to dynamically change the available items. The LIstAllConditional function has been used to only show valid material options.

Pancake Day Fun at DriveWorks

Every year at DriveWorks we celebrate pancake day at lunchtime, flipping, topping and enjoying pancakes together.

Here are some photos from our delicious lunchtime today!

Everyone has a different flipping technique. Some people go for a simple flip…

Then there’s the more adventurous flip…

Others keep it low…

Some people flip so high they lose their pancake…

There’s even a double flip…

And others seem to be completely terrified of pancakes…

When it comes to toppings we’re divided too.

Classic lemon and sugar, indulgent nutella or sweet syrup, we like them all!

Of course Ruby was involved in the pancake day action too, on the lookout for dropped pancakes but unfortunately for her, everybody managed to catch theirs!

She was also super helpful and very happy to help us clean up the mess.
