7:15 pm – 8:30 pm: Sheet metal design and analysis – A practical approach – Donald Maloy, Trimech.

In this presentation we will investigate the practical applications of SOLIDWORKS Sheet Metal and validate our design by utilizing SOLIDWORKS Simulation. This embedded process will help us reduce material cost, resulting in saving us time and money! Donald Maloy is a SOLIDWORKS Application Engineer and certified SOLIDWORKS Simulation and Mechanical Design instructor of TriMech, an Engineering Solutions provider based in the greater Boston area. Donald is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, where he received a BS in Applied Physics and is currently an active member of NAFEMS. He holds several advanced SOLIDWORKS certifications in simulation, drawing tools, sheet metal, and weldments. Before working at TriMech, Donald was a career Naval Aviator in the United States Navy where he accumulated over 1,000+ flight hours and was awarded two Combat Air Medals in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In addition to his role at TriMech, he also works in an aeronautical engineering capacity. Current project includes conducting finite element analysis verification and validation for FAA Part 23 certification process of a clean sheet aircraft design.
